Last of the Mohicans
Falling five places since 2013, Last of the Mohicans is Trevor Jones's only entry in the top 100 of the Classic FM Movie Music Hall of Fame.
It could have ended up being an electronic score if director Michael Mann had his way, but thankfully this glorious soundtrack from Trevor Jones ended up as an orchestral affair. The film's protagonist, Hawkeye — played by Daniel Day-Lewis — had little to say, but the music spoke volumes. Jones's Main Theme to the 1992 film adaptation of James Fenimore Cooper's 1826 novel does somehow capture some of the Boy's Own spirit of Cooper. A majestic, thrilling but ultimately simple soundtrack.
