Batman Begins and The Dark Knight
Hans Zimmer's two Batman scores climb 2 places in this year's chart
The score for Batman Begins is an amazing collaboration between composers Hans Zimmer and James Newton Howard with notable contributions from Ramin Djawadi and Mel Wesson. The result was one of the most unifying and iconic soundtracks of the decade. With a beefed-up cello section in tow, the sound is full of tension and foreboding, perfect for Christopher Nolan's dark, new vision of the most iconic of superheroes. Zimmer and Newton Howard struck again in the sequel, The Dark Knight. Featuring the late Heath Ledger in an unforgettable performance as the Joker, Christopher Nolan's notably darker, more mature update of the Batman franchise really took off and the score started to become just as loved as the movies, even winning the Grammy Award for best soundtrack album in 2009.
