Despite cutting his teeth (non-vampiric, we hasten to add) on the left-field movies of the Coen Brothers, composer Carter Burwell took to the mainstream with gentle aplomb with his music for the cultural juggernaut that is the Twilight series. But how did he do it? Rather than opting for bland, anthemic, Hollywood bluster, he kept things dialled down low and opted for a softer approach — one that worked even better than you might imagine.
