Danny Elfman's knack for quirky, catchy and emotive scores was discovered for the first time by a mainstream audience thanks to Tim Burton and Edward Scissorhands. It has fallen 24 places between 2013 and 2014, though.
It's unsurprising that the modern fable of Edward Scissorhands (directed by Tim Burton and featuring a breakthrough performance from Johnny Depp) has since been adapted into a ballet by Matthew Bourne. But it's Danny Elfman's score for the film that has found the most musical favour. It's classic Elfman: ethereal, otherworldly and, when it needs to be, humorous, too.
