Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Alexandre Desplat

The highest entry in the Classic FM Movie Music Hall of Fame 2014 for Alexandre Desplat, the best film composer you've never heard of. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows climbs two places since last year.

How do you go about continuing the legacy of one of the most important film franchises in recent history? That's the conundrum French composer Alexandre Desplat found himself answering in 2010 when he became the Harry Potter series' fourth main composer, with the added pressure of one of them being the great John Williams. But, gamely, Desplat gave the seventh film in the series an especially dark sound world that followed on from what went before, but looked to the future as well.
