Wilde is the only film score in the Classic FM Movie Music Hall of Fame by a female composer. Debbie Wiseman's soundtrack climbs one place since 2013.
Stephen Fry was born to play Oscar Wilde, but Debbie Wiseman put her stamp on this biopic, too. The poetry, wit and general legendary cultural figure of Wilde himself also looms large over the work, and it's clear that Wiseman's inspiration was as much from these works as from the movie. It's not Wiseman's only musical dalliance with Wilde, either. She also wrote a series of pieces inspired by Wilde's fairy stories, which were nominated for a Grammy Award and eventually turned into a series of animations for Channel 4.
