The King's Speech
Alexandre Desplat

60

Starring Colin Firth, Helena Bonham-Carter and Geoffrey Rush, The King's Speech is the hugely successful, Academy Awardwinning story of King George VI's unexpected ascension to the throne.

Interestingly, the soundtrack was recorded at Abbey Road studios using many of the original microphones that were designed for King George VI. Some had been in storage for almost 70 years. Crucially, Desplat's score is never intrusive or overwhelming. Instead, it serves to highlight scenes whilst simultaneously establishing an identity for itself.
